Isabelle a plus de 15 ans d’expérience dans le secteur de l’éducation et de la formation continue. Isabelle a participé à la création et à la gestion de plusieurs start-ups et a agi en tant que consultante en gestion pour de plus grandes organisations à Maurice et au Royaume-Uni. Elle est diplômée en gestion des affaires et a obtenu une maîtrise ès sciences en gestion agro-alimentaire de l’Université de Surrey. Elle est également titulaire d’un diplôme de troisième cycle en enseignement dans le secteur du Life Long Learning et d’une maîtrise en arts en éducation, politiques et société du King’s College de Londres. Elle est également qualifiée en coaching.
Isabelle has more than 15 years’ experience in education, training and lifelong learning sector. Isabelle helped set up and run several start-ups and has acted as a business consultant for larger organisations both in Mauritius and in the UK. She has a degree in Business Management and obtained a Master of Science in Food Management from the University of Surrey. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in the Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector and a Master of Art in Education, Policy and Society from King’s College London. She is also qualified in Life Coaching Skills.
The RTC’s involvement in the sugarcane industry has been a springboard for the development of an array of agribusiness courses and workshops which range from gardening and food safety introductory courses, run by local specialists, to higher level landscape design courses run by an overseas consultant. An innovative Mauritian turf agronomy course is planned in collaboration with Auburn University, USA for golf course employees, and new sustainable landscaping workshops are being organized.
L’implication du RTC dans l’industrie de la canne à sucre a été un tremplin pour la mise au point d’une série de cours et d’ateliers dans l’agro-industrie, allant de cours d’initiation au jardinage et à la sécurité alimentaire, dispensés par des spécialistes locaux, à des cours de niveau supérieur en aménagement paysager dirigés par un consultant étranger. Un cours novateur d’agronomie sur le turf mauricien est prévu pour les employés des terrains de golf en collaboration avec l’Université Auburn, aux États-Unis, et de nouveaux ateliers sur l’aménagement paysager durable sont en cours d’organisation.

Linda Mamet est directrice du RTC depuis 2005. Linda est titulaire d’un BSc (First class) en Biology and Applied Psychology de l’University d’Aston, au Royaume-Uni, d’un MPhil et d’un doctorat en Génétique Végétale de l’Université de Cambridge, au Royaume-Uni. Sa thèse de doctorat a conduit à des changements dans la manière dont de nouvelles variétés de canne à sucre sont développées à l’Institut de recherche de l’industrie mauricienne de la canne à sucre.
Elle est un Independent Non-Executive Director et un Fellow du Mauritius Institute of Directors et un Fellow du Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology. Elle est le Councillor du International Society of Sugar Cane technologists.
Elle siège dans de nombreux conseils et comités.
Jean Li a accumulé une quarantaine d’années d’expérience dans l’industrie du sucre à Maurice et en Afrique après avoir occupé divers postes de direction, notamment ceux de directeur général de Mtibwa Sugar Estate en Tanzanie, de secrétaire général de la Chambre d’Agriculture de l’île Maurice et Mauritius Sugar Producers Association.
Il représente actuellement les producteurs de sucre au conseil d’administration de plusieurs institutions, notamment Business Mauritius, la Mauritius Cane Industry Authority, le Mauritius Sugar Syndicate et le Sugar Industry Pension Fund.
RTC est particulièrement reconnu dans les pays producteurs de sucre du monde pour ses cours internationaux phares en agronomie de la canne à sucre, fabrication du sucre de canne et contrôle chimique des usines du sucre. En opération depuis 1980, mais évoluant constamment avec les développements du secteur, la formation de RTC a contribué au développement de nombreux acteurs majeurs du secteur. Des employés de 47 pays différents, issus des régions sucrières anglophones et francophones, ont profité de ces expériences de formation internationales exceptionnelles. De plus, le RTC invite régulièrement des experts internationaux à organiser des ateliers spécialisés répondant aux besoins de l’industrie.
Dr Linda Mamet is the Director of the RTC since 2005. Linda holds a BSc (First class) degree in Biology and Applied Psychology from the University of Aston, UK and an MPhil and a PhD in Plant Genetics from the University of Cambridge, UK. Her doctoral thesis has led to changes in the way new varieties of sugar cane are developed at the Mauritius Sugarcane Industry Research Institute She has carried out several consultancies and has authored/co-authored/edited numerous reports and papers.
She is an Independent Non-Executive Director and Fellow of the Mauritius Institute of Directors and is a Fellow of the Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology. She is the Councillor for Mauritius for the International Society of Sugar Cane technologists. She has served on numerous boards and committees.
Jean Li has gathered some forty years of work experience in the Sugar Industry both in Mauritius and Africa having held various senior positions including those of General Manager of Mtibwa Sugar Estate in Tanzania, General Secretary of the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture and Director of the ex – Mauritius Sugar Producers’ Association.
He currently represents the millers on the board of directors of several institutions, including Business Mauritius, Mauritius Cane Industry Authority, Mauritius Sugar Syndicate, and Sugar Industry Pension Fund.
RTC is particularly recognized throughout the sugar-producing countries of the world for the flagship international courses in Sugarcane Agronomy, Cane Sugar Manufacture and Chemical Control of Sugar Factories. Running since 1980, but constantly evolving with the developments in the industry, RTC’s training has contributed to the development of many of the major players in the industry. Employees from 47 different countries, covering both Anglophone and Francophone sugar regions, have benefitted from these exceptional international training experiences. Furthermore, the RTC regularly invites international experts to run specialized workshops based on the industry’s needs.
